Tomoe
Otaku Collection February 5th, 2008So far there are only two Queen’s Blade figures that I owned. Tomoe being the first one. Saw her from a online review and quite like her character. Mine came in the normal form. There’s a special version where her clothes are in blue colour but that one is out of reach for me (don’t know where to get)
Tomoe is another one of those characters in Queen’s Blade. She is a samurai warrior wearing a red kimono.
Tomoe has got the look I like. Looks matured yet ever so pretty. You can actually see something right through the kimono dress ^^ She can be fully cast-off, like Airi. Underneath her kimono, she wears nothing except for a pair of G-string. Her casting off feature is not too difficult. Main issue will be due to the very very tight fitting, especially at the sleeves part.
As with all Queen’s Blade figures, Tomoe carries a weapon as well. Her weapon is a katana sword with a pair of bells below the hilt.
The paint job is rather good for this figure. Most of the seamlines are at the body area. Unnoticeable unless you display it without any clothes on.
As usual, Tomoe comes with a cheap-looking plastic base. Only one of her feet attaches to the base. And a slight shock may cause her to come tumbling down. (I done it twice already!) Her base is big and took up a lot of precious display space. If possible, I would like to display her without the base but it cannot be done since she can’t stand on her own.
The problem with my Tomoe, is that the clothing part at the arm area are struck with some greasy residue straight from the factory. As such, over time, my Tomoe’s arms had become “orange coloured” as above. Luckily the body area is spared from the misery. It surprises me as this is the first time I ever see any figure that has this problem and it is common to all MegaHouse figures. Perhaps this will signal the end of my MegaHouse collections?
Additional info:
The bell below the hilt is actually detachable to have the sword inserted into Tomoe’s hand.
To insert the sword, first detach the bells by pulling it out. Insert the sword. Replace the bells. woola!
Highlight of this figure: Full cast-off feature! ^^
Tomoe is the second character from Queen’s Blade whom I like. The first being Airi. This is not a bad figure. But it disappoints me a lot, due to the reports of paint rubbing off or the grease from the clothing affected the figure (like mine!) This is not the figure sculpting issue but manufacturing issue where the figure parts came with greasy substances.

Ah~
I see someone has got these Queen’s Blade figures~
I tend to notice the grease sometimes on new figures, I just give them a good clean.
I only really liked Ymir, and the newly announced Moetan of Queen’s Gate :3

How to you get the sword into her hand?…I have the figure, but don’t know how to get it in without thinking I might accidentally break off the bells…

@silent1134: you can actually take the bell off the hilt. and then insert the sword into her hand.. I will post some photos later tonight.. check back soon!

Thanks a lot Prim3! Oh and have you figured out a solution to the paint rubbing off problem? I hear things like use thinner, top coating, or clear tape the areas so that it won’t get on the figure or maybe simply wiping off the grease…what’s your take on it?

@silent1134: no problem
I have added the info into my post. hope it helps!
for the paint rubbing/grease thingy, just wiping it off should be ok. if you don’t plan to display your Tomoe, you can actually keep the plastic that comes shipped with her. it will keep her safe. I don’t suggest using thinner/coating or any chemical substance on her. It may make things worse.. lol..
as for mine, I think nothing can be done already since the colour of the hand has already turned orange.
