Just who is Shinobu-chan? Beats me. All I know is that she is not the everybody’s type of girl, and that was what caught my eyes. There is this special milestone edition, but I find the colour too dull for my liking. So let’s start, shall we?

I shall start off with some all angle shots of Shinobu-chan. As you can see, she does wears a skirt, but it is super short. And thus, no matter how you look at her, the pantsu shall be there. Kinda make people ask: Why wear the skirt? And Shinobu-chan is actually pretty moe, ain’t she?

In terms of quality, on most parts it’s ok. Just that on the leg part, the tone is not smooth and there’s some rough areas. There’s also some slight rough parts on the hair but not so visible. The face sculpt, after comparing with the illustration on the box, is only about 65-70% similar. But still, I would call this Shinobu-chan figure as moe.

The base feels ok. It doesn’t give me that super cheap feel like those MegaHouse figures. But I do find the pegs are not that tightly fitted into the holes on her leg.

From this photo, you would have known that her nipple is actually partially exposed even though she is wearing clothes. You just need to peek really carefully. At the time of photo-shooting, I was not really able to cast her off. But after that, I actually found the instruction guide for cast off in the box (pretty well hidden), but it was already too late since I had kept her in the cabinet. -.-” The sword is pretty standard and nothing to talk about.

Highlight of this figure: Fish net!

So far there are only two Queen’s Blade figures that I owned. Tomoe being the first one. Saw her from a online review and quite like her character. Mine came in the normal form. There’s a special version where her clothes are in blue colour but that one is out of reach for me (don’t know where to get)

Tomoe is another one of those characters in Queen’s Blade. She is a samurai warrior wearing a red kimono.

Tomoe has got the look I like. Looks matured yet ever so pretty. You can actually see something right through the kimono dress ^^ She can be fully cast-off, like Airi. Underneath her kimono, she wears nothing except for a pair of G-string. Her casting off feature is not too difficult. Main issue will be due to the very very tight fitting, especially at the sleeves part.

As with all Queen’s Blade figures, Tomoe carries a weapon as well. Her weapon is a katana sword with a pair of bells below the hilt.

The paint job is rather good for this figure. Most of the seamlines are at the body area. Unnoticeable unless you display it without any clothes on.

As usual, Tomoe comes with a cheap-looking plastic base. Only one of her feet attaches to the base. And a slight shock may cause her to come tumbling down. (I done it twice already!) Her base is big and took up a lot of precious display space. If possible, I would like to display her without the base but it cannot be done since she can’t stand on her own.

The problem with my Tomoe, is that the clothing part at the arm area are struck with some greasy residue straight from the factory. As such, over time, my Tomoe’s arms had become “orange coloured” as above. Luckily the body area is spared from the misery. It surprises me as this is the first time I ever see any figure that has this problem and it is common to all MegaHouse figures. Perhaps this will signal the end of my MegaHouse collections?

Additional info:

The bell below the hilt is actually detachable to have the sword inserted into Tomoe’s hand.

To insert the sword, first detach the bells by pulling it out. Insert the sword. Replace the bells. woola!

Highlight of this figure: Full cast-off feature! ^^

Tomoe is the second character from Queen’s Blade whom I like. The first being Airi. This is not a bad figure. But it disappoints me a lot, due to the reports of paint rubbing off or the grease from the clothing affected the figure (like mine!) This is not the figure sculpting issue but manufacturing issue where the figure parts came with greasy substances.

Finally got my Airi figure after spending two weeks waiting for the SAL package from Japan. Surprisingly though, the SAL package arrived intact as I had always heard stories about bad handling for SAL.

A common trait that I had found with MegaHouse figures is that it feels greasy after you take them out of the box. Same goes for Airi. At first glance, she was well wrapped in plastic, and thus forced me to fully cast her off to remove them. ^^

Airi is a hugely popular character in the Queen’s Blade universe. She comes in a maid form, carrying a huge weapon. Airi’s detail and paint job is good enough. The height of her with the scythe attached (~32cm till the very tip of the scythe) makes her unable to fit into most display cabinets. She can be fully casted-off, until only her pantsu and socks left. But her clothes are rather hard to remove though due to tight fittings. There is no manual for casting off included and need for trial-and-error.

Her base is made up of three parts. And it adds to her height as well. The base feels kinda plasticly and Airi is not able to stand without it. Airi has got sexy long legs ^^

Some close-ups of Airi and pantsu shot using my macro lense. Kind of over-exposed. ^^

Highlight of this figure:

Super big scythe!

I really like this Airi figure. Her fully cast-off feature is a huge plus. However, her not-so-moe-as-expected face and her feel-like-cheap-plastic base does cut her short of a few points from getting a Prim3 Recommended tag.

One of the few impulse buys I had.. Didn’t really survey/read reviews before I decide to grab this baby off PA. She’s Kamisaka Haruhi from the anime Happiness! This is the initialization colour version which is also a limited edition. (only 500 produced? can’t remember the exact number) The normal version comes in orange clothes.

My first figure post of 2008 comes with the moe photo of Haruhi. Look how cute she is.

She comes with a reflective base, which may or may not be a good thing.. the good thing is:

The arms are actually detachable to remove the top body to be interchanged with a battle damaged version of Haruhi.. However, due to bad mold job, the right hand of my unit can’t be properly attached to the body and leaves a visible gap between the arm and the blouse.

The paint job for Haruhi isn’t very convincing as there are irregularities here and there. I even saw a smudge on her white blouse. (Just a tiny bit)

Highlight of this figure: The trumpet ^^

Ya, the paint job isn’t really consistent and there is this gap between her arms and clothes, it’s the moe-ness that caught my eyes.. She is rather expensive when I bought her due to the limited edition thingy. Hopefully, no more impulse buys after this.

Bought this figure at the same time with Saber maid version.. This Rin maid seems to have more fans than her counterpart as Rin maid was sold out while Saber maid is still in stock at several stores in Malaysia..

Overall view of Rin and her base.. Rin’s base is also not complete due to the missing part has to be detached to be able to join up with Saber’s base..

Rin really looks elegant here.. She has got the potential to be a maid.. Her dress is exceptionally large and heavy, and caused a problem (mentioning later).. She stands on one leg, with the other leg just touching the ground.. Thus, if there’s any slight push, you will see her shaking.. Her left hand is lifting up her apron..

Closer view of the beautiful Rin.. Her hair is really beautifully presented.. spreading out in mid air.. However, it looks so fake.. It looks as though her hair are all glued together.. there’s no hair line separating them at all..

A closer view of Rin’s hair..

Now for the problem I mentioned earlier.. with her heavy dress, she has problem “holding” her dress.. There is this large gap between her hand and the dress due to there’s no locking between them.. (sorry for my camera technique.. the hand is actually not touching the dress at all) I tried forcing the hand and the dress together but it kept slipping down..

Highlights of this figure: Rin and Saber can be combine together to form the meido duo..

Overall, I really like Rin in this meido dress.. Too bad about the issues above..
