Minatsuki Saya
Otaku Collection April 27th, 2008This is one heck of a figure whom I had waiting for so long. In fact, she is the longest one I waited for release. I still remember I placed a pre-order for her mid last year, only for her to be delayed a few times and finally releasing in February 2008. She is no other than Minatsuki Saya of Black Cat.
One of the reason I got attracted to Saya is that she is unlike all other figures who are always wearing either school uniforms, sexy clothes, bikinis, torn clothes (Ikkitousen, anyone?), etc. Instead, she wears the traditional Japanese clothes, a kimono. In fact, she is the only figure I had seen wearing a kimono to date. The fact that she is holding a gun can mean modern + traditional. A kinda nice blend right?
Saya has a very cute looking look. I remember I read somewhere that her clothes can be removed to cast her off. But I do not think it is possible. Not that I tried anyway. On her neck is a necklace and it can be moved.
If you see her from close-up and clearly, there are quite a few rough spots. Workmanship seems to be only so-so. But luckily since her dress is mostly white, so you won’t be able to see it anyway. I also managed to spot some discolouration on her hair. However, her gun is very nicely done.
She comes with a rather sturdy base, with her name written on it. She is fixed to the base, meaning she can’t be separated from it. However, as can be seen in the photo, there seems to be a very visible peg in between her leg and her shoe, which really spoil the view. But still, negligible.
A cleavage shot. ^^
Highlight of this figure: Kimono!
All in all, I can only reckon this figure to those who can appreciate her as her overall quality is only average. She will be a nice addition if you are looking to fill your figure cabinet with all types of different figures.

Uh, that’s a Yukata, not a kimono but nice pics though. I wish you would make them biger instead of having to click on each one lol.

Her yukata really is lovely. The print is nice and the yellow sash is bright…in a yummy way.

I was looking at the stand and thinking “That’s typical of Griffon figures, isn’t it?” The plaque? My Disgaea Etna has a plaque too.
Griffon figures tend to be more expensive than most other manufacturers, but I really don’t know why…

Sweetness, thought the figure looked pretty sweet when I saw it in a store and was rather interested in it. Probably would have grabbed it if I actually was familiar with Black Cat =/
I kinda like how their bases have plaques though, makes them more showpiece like =) Can’t say I care for the sizes they typically come in though. And though it could be quite a minor matter, I never did like how the pegs extend from the figure itself and not from the base.

Hmm.. I think I would’ve prefered a Saya without a gun~
Nevertheless, it’s a good figure.
