Prim3 was at Kuching Gundams and Figures Exhibition!

Lack of updates? Ya I am well aware of that. Ever since my boss went on a long holiday and I had to cover him as regional manager, I didn’t even had the time for myself.

Anyway, Prim3 was fortunate enough to be invited to display his figures in the recent Kuching Gundams and Figures Exhibition on 20-24 August 2008. It was organized by the SAMS (Swimburne Anime and Manga Society) gang in the Spring, Kuching (East Malaysia ) While of course not as big as the KL guys’ one, this is certainly a good start for Kuching collectors. I like how the figures are well arranged in a acrylic translucent showcase where people can come around and look from all angles. (Maybe the TFM guys can learn from this )

On the last day I was day, I can see the SAMS President falling asleep (photo below). Too tired already perhaps? XD Ok, here are all the photos I had XD Enjoy!

Anime Blog Awards

The Anime Blog Awards was conceptualised on March 19, 2008 with the intention of recognising and celebrating the top blogs in the anime blogosphere, and seeks to achieve the following goals:

To serve as exposure for new bloggers.

To objectively measure a blog’s achievements by means of peer review.

To encourage readers to move out of their comfort zone by discovering new blogs.

Five bloggers of different backgrounds and influences make up the team responsible for The ABA — Impz of “THAT Anime Blog”, Owen S of “Cruel Angel Theses”, TheBigN of “Drastic My Anime Blog”, mellow_bunny of “mellowSPACE” and Akai of “Reinforce Network”, who have all contributed to the project in their own way.

Scheduled to take place from the 19th of March right up till the 20th of June, The ABA consists of 2 phases: In the first phase, nominations will take place from March 19th to April 22nd. This will be followed by the second phase from April 25th to June 1st where the public will be able to vote for the Readers’ Choice, with the bloggers voting for the Bloggers’ Choice concurrently. Results will be released on the 20th of June.

Wonder Festival 2008

What is the Wonder Festival? It is actually a figure/toys/anime event that takes place in Japan. Usually there will be figures being sold here, with special editions just for this event.

Heisei Democracy has got a good coverage for the event. I regret I can’t make any coverage for it since I have no chance to go to Japan (yet!)

Wishing all Chinese a Happy Chinese New Year 2008! Year of the Rat!

May prosperity befalls us and give us more figure/dvds/merchandises at the year ahead..

Time to collect ang pow to buy more figures.. and enjoy some McDonalds Prosperity Burger while it’s in town. XD

Comic Fiesta 2007 Event Report

The Comic Fiesta 2007 was held on 15 and 16 December 2007 at Times Square KL.. I was kinda waiting for this day, as would all other anime/manga lovers.. I went on the second day.. I had my team building course the day before.. and I was lucky that it was held at that time.. Else, how would I be able to attend it? (Kuching->KL return flight by MAS would cost RM900 alone)

It was a grand event, with anime, manga, figures, cosplays.. u name it.. It’s said to be the biggest anime event to be held in Malaysia.. The cosplay part was the most amazing.. with characters from various animes.. I saw Bleach, FF, Zelda, Code Geass, Shining Wind, even Pacman! (Some of the girls really are cute and pretty btw.. haha.. I like the Xecty girl the most.. ^^) A cosplay competition was held in the afternoon.. and later on, each finalist was asked to become the pieces of a chess game the MCs played out..

Various shops took part in the event with many items selling there.. We have figures, mangas, drawings, posters, etc.. But one booth gathered the most attention, which is the one me and my fellow figure collectors had.. There were around 60+ figures on display that day.. from Xenoglossia, Ikkitousen to Shuraki.. many people were seen gathering around our booth taking pictures.. I was involved as I had one of my figures: Kokonoe Rin from Kodomo no Jikan displayed.. until valho told me that she was “molested” by a little girl that day.. hahaha..

I went there at around 12.30pm and had to rush back to airport at around 4.30pm.. guess the time’s too short for Rin to enjoy the crowd eh?

All in all, I bought a Saber’s hp strap and 4 posters during the day.. and of course, I had to bring my Rin back after the event..

Note: There’s one guy in the photo album that took photos with the Zelda princess girl and Darth Maul.. But that’s not me ok? My friend from Kuching..

“About Us

Hello and welcome to Comic Fiesta! Comic Fiesta is first and foremost an event, which is made for fans by fans, that is held every year in the middle of December. It is a celebration of our interest in animation, comics and games (ACG), and its founding in 2002 stems from the founders’ wish to see similar ACG conventions to be held in Malaysia.

Being a fandom-oriented event, Comic Fiesta’s main attractions include fan activities like the selling of doujinshi (DIY amateur comics) and cosplay (‘costume play’). Every year during Comic Fiesta, contests are held for drawing, artist booths and cosplay. We even have an online forums that supports an active ACG fans community that hail from all over Malaysia and its neighbouring countries.

The forums are also where private gatherings like the monthly Art Jams are organised. Most of all, Comic Fiesta is interested in encouraging the emergence of local artistic talent, especially in the comic production sector. From about 20 tables in 2002, the amount of artist booths has grown to over 70 tables in 2006. The standard of doujinshi sold at CF ’06 has also been especially encouraging, with overseas artists from also taking part.

As the local ACG fan population grows, so did the local ACG scene in terms of retail and production. Through media coverage, there has been increased public recognition of ACG as a hobby that is not just child’s play, but an interest for an audience of varying ages. Thus far, Comic Fiesta has looked to overseas conventions such as Comic World in Hong Kong, Anime Expo in the United States and especially Comic Market in Japan for reference and inspiration.

Based on these observations, combined with yearly event feedback, our committee works to bring up the quality of your Comic Fiesta experience. Today our core project team consists of about 20 people, all students and young professionals.

We recruit more people through friends and word-of-mouth to assist in event promotion and helping out before, during and after the event. That said, we hope to see you there at Comic Fiesta 2007.

Mascot

Coffy is energetic and tends to be a bit of a tomboy. She was kindly created back in 2002 by Laine.

Tea was created by Pin much more recently, making his debut in small comic strips posted in the forum.”
