About Me
Howdy, welcome to my Otaku’s Hideout blog, a blog about anime, figurines and toys. It is mainly about the figurines in my collection, with in depth reviews and photos coverage and also anything else that are related to the otaku world.
My nickname is Prim3 and I am from Kuching, a beautiful city in East Malaysia. Wondering why I am called Prim3? Well, there’s a reason behind this and you can read further about it here: Click me!
I started off the figurine/model collection hobby way back in 1999. I still remember the first model I had was a Macross VF-1J injection model kit. It was also the first model kit that I actually imported from Japan, along with other accessories paints, nippers, thinners, masking tapes, etc. The progress of my collection was rather slow at that time, due to I had limited resources (namely $) due to I was still a high school student. Also, the lack of credit card to buy online and the lack of local figurine/model shops at my proximity hampers my collection.
It was later until mid-2007 that I really got into the business. After seeing tonnes of lovely figurines when I visited a toy shop in KL, only I realised, I simply must join the figurines community! I started to read about reviews and blogs online to see the figurines in close range to really stir up my desires. After abandoning HLJ for so long, I was ready to get onboard once again! The very first figurine I had was Alter’s Saber Black Dress Version. However, that one proved to be a disaster as I found out that she was actually a bootleg after I bought her back to Kuching. Figurine bootlegs was something I had not heard off before until I read about it in forums. After that, I was cautious to only buy from reputable shops and not fall into any cheap price tricks.
Until now, my collection had grown rather satisfactory. My current all-time favourite is Alter’s Aegis from the PS2 game Persona3.
I use my Kodak Z712 IS armed with +10 macro lense as the main camera to capture the shots for my figurines. It has full manual control and allows me to tinker with every possible settings to make my shots good. I also have a Panasonic Lumix FX3 but it is basically a point and shoot camera and does not really cater for precise shooting. I am still considered a beginner though and thus need tonnes of practice to enhance my skills.
All photos with the embedded Prim3.org watermark are taken by and copyright to Prim3 (me). Anyone is allowed to use them for non-commercial purposes and without modification in any way. I do appreciate if you can drop me a message using the “Contact Me” page when you use them so that I know where my photos go to. ^^
That’s all. Hope you enjoy your stay in Otaku’s Hideout.
